Optimization of a solar thermal absorption cooling system for Bangladesh through simulation, experimental investigation and financial evaluation
Project ID: ARP/2022/MPE/02/07
Funding Source: AUST Internal Research Grant
Project Awarded: 30th August, 2022
Principal Investigator:
Dr. Mahbubul Muttakin
Associate Professor, MPE Department, AUST
Co-principal Investigator/s:
Dr. Fazle Rabbi
Associate Professor, MPE Department, AUST
Project Duration: 2 years
Budget approved: 10,00,000/-
Expected Research Outcomes:
- Year-round performance of an evacuated tube collector (ETC) under meteorological condition of Bangladesh will be obtained as a research output.
- The effects of different nanofluids and the concentration of nanoparticles on the performance of ETC will be investigated.
- To meet a specific cooling demand, the size of the solar thermal system will be optimized based on financial data of Bangladesh.
- For a solar powered absorption chiller, solar fraction, COP, payback period, net present value will be calculated.
- Finally, a guideline/direction on future solar cooling system will be provided.
