Investigation on the effect of High Range Water Reducing Admixture on the Mechanical Properties of Jute Fiber Reinforced Concrete
Project ID: ARP/2022/CE/02/08
Funding Source: AUST Internal Research Grant
Project Awarded: 30th August, 2022
Principal Investigator:
Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury
Professor, CE Department, AUST
Co-principal Investigator/s:
Dr. Debasish Sen
Assistant Professor, MPE Department, AUST
Project Duration: 2 years
Budget approved: 6,00,000/-
Expected Research Outcomes:
• It is expected that the jute fibers will improve the post-peak behavior of concrete and will increase the splitting tensile strength. Jute fibers may not have a significant effect on the compressive strength of concrete, but is expected to improve with the addition of High Range Water Reducing admixture. Workability of Jute Fiber Reinforced Concrete (JFRC) is expected to increase with the addition of HRWR admixture. Moreover, improved microstructure of JFRC with the addition of HRWR admixture is expected to be justified by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis.
