Evaluating fabric defects generated in the knitting floors of the export-oriented RMG industry: Bangladesh perspective
Project ID: AIRG/2023/TEX/05/18
Funding Source: AUST Internal Research Grant
Project Awarded: 1st April, 2024

Associate Professor, TEX Department, AUST
Project Duration: 1 year
Budget approved: 5,00,000/-
Expected Research Outcomes:
Through this research study certain types of grey knitted fabric defects would be classified which are responsible for the major portion of machine downtime and technical personnel involvement, ultimately resulting higher cost of manufacture. On the other hand, the influential defects, which may not show dominance in presence, can hamper the fabric quality drastically and their identification would be more helpful for saving fabric quality or reducing fabric rejection. Consequently, the root cause analysis of these mentioned major defects would, more likely, boil down all apparent causes into some core causes and knitwear manufactures may frame an action plan to systematically prevent these critical defects and thus enhance economic sustainability.
