Associate Professor, MPE Department, AUST
Project Duration: 2 years
Budget approved: 9,83,000/-
Expected Research Outcomes:
- Although natural fiber reinforced bio-composites were proposed in 1937 [44] but their
development have been the subject of growing research interest for about last 20 years, which
is a short period of time in contrast to synthetic composites counterparts. Despite the 20 years’
research, the development is still in its infancy in terms of lack of technical processing
understanding, little understanding on their mechanical properties under service load, and
technological maturity. The advent of the state-of-the-art 3D printing has emerged as a great
opportunity for natural fiber reinforced bio-composites to fill the gap with synthetic
composites, develop them on the same time scale as their synthetic counterparts, and bring
them to a similar technological maturity.
